Age 2 to 3

Age 2 to 3

The room is set up to allow children to freely explore their surroundings as we believe the children at this age are very curious.  We aim to provide a learning environment in which the children are valued and contributing members of a mini-community.  Within this nurturing community, the children are given the opportunities to explore, to develop self-confidence and a love of learning.  They learn to communicate with others in spoken language, and for early explorations of the wider natural, social and cultural world.

Order and discipline are emphasized in the classroom.  Children are taught the appropriate way to play and interact with others.

We emphasize the building of a good foundation of learning at this age.  Activities generally focus on the development of pre-reading and pre-writing skills.  Literacy and numeracy activities are carried out in small groups to cater for the different levels of abilities of children.

Activities in this group include: songs, dance, stories, practical life, literacy, numeracy, sensorial, sign language, cooking, science, culture, outdoor activities, art and craft, etc.
